theGrio.com (NBC News) has an opening for a paid GeoIQ internship. TheGrio.com is NBC’s video-centric news website dedicated to producing stories of African-American interest. At just over one year old, the site is one of NBC News’ fastest growing new ventures – with a dedicated audience of loyal users.
Qualifications
Intern candidates should have a strong interest in journalism and politics and have a familiarity with African-American culture. You should have experience in digital journalism, strong Internet research skills, be fast in Microsoft Excel and proficient using GeoIQ and GeoCommons.
GeoIQ interns will research and create interesting data sets with which to create compelling, interactive maps using GeoIQ. You will work closely with theGrio editors to map breaking news and illustrate historical patterns with greater context and insight on theGrio.com.

Location: This is a remote paid internship. The right candidate will work from home/class/work and be in email and telephone communication with theGrio’s editorial team.
Compensation: $50 per map that is published on theGrio.com.
