Sales Engineer

GeoIQ's sales engineer will work closely with the GeoIQ sales team to manage existing clients and cultivate prospective clients.  

Job Responsibilities:

  • You will complete software demonstrations and presentation of the GeoIQ platform with demonstrations that range from standard to custom demonstrations.
  • You will implement the entire suite of GeoIQ software in rapid deployment and proof of concept scenarios where customers or prospects evaluate in a live or development environment.  
  • Constantly learn and develop expertise in GeoIQ software
  • Must maintain expertise as new releases of GeoIQ software become available
  • Deliver hands-on workshops and training to new and prospective GeoIQ customers
  • Maintain regular communication with GeoIQ customers
  • Arrange and conduct face-to-face client meetings on a regular basis
  • Track activity in GeoIQ's internal sales management systems and other systems as appropriate
  • Travel varies by geographic territory, but can be up to 25%.  On occasion, proofs-of-concept can be held at customer locations causing volatility in this travel expectation
  • Field questions related to use of the GeoIQ product APIs and technology from customers and prospects
  • Review and provide feedback to GeoIQ product functionality based on customer and prospect feedback, including the GeoIQ API
  • Maintain code samples for GeoIQ API documentation and ensure documentation is easy to understand

Your skills should include:

  • Proven or demonstrably outstanding presentation skills

  • Polished and professional in both appearance, personal interaction, and all communications
  • Demonstrable understanding of relational database management systems (RDBMS) and comfort with SQL
  • BS/BA Degree in MIS, Computer Science or technical field or equivalent experience
  • 3-5 years experience in a customer facing role, whether sales, training or other
  • Experience with web-based applications, location intelligence systems, business intelligence systems, relational database management systems, a major plus
  • Must possess a very broad and deep level of knowledge and understanding of the GeoIQ suite in order to effectively position and convey the merits of the platform to customers and prospects.
  • Experience in an equivalent role for a technology firm a major plus
  • Proficiency in technologies which are complementary to GeoIQ software a plus, particularly:  HTML, Javascript, Java, Ruby

Front End Engineer

GeoIQ combines unbounded data streaming from social media, databases, APIs, sensors, and user contributions and provides them in an easy to use web interface for users to dive through and explore their data. As a Front-End Engineer you will be a key member of our growing platform engineering team building dynamic, interactive visualizations, maps and mobile applications. You will be working directly with our JavaScript and ActionScript components to create compelling interfaces that use cutting edge technology and web standards.

You likely have experience building a number of visual applications and mashups using data and programming to solve interesting problems problems. Our team is among the best in the world, is fast-paced, exciting, and enjoyably challenging.

Your skills should include:

  • Expertise with JavaScript and ActionScript  and other modern web front-end technologies.
  • Experience with data visualization, user interaction and mobile interfaces. Mapping experience not required, but definitely a benefit.
  • Familiarity with web development languages like Ruby or Python is useful. It's even better if you utilize tools like Rails, Coffeescript, Sinatra, or Node.
  • Solid communication skills, documentation, and general collaboration across distributed teams.
  • Self starter and more importantly a solid finisher

Solutions Engineer

We have a lot of customers with a variety of interesting uses for GeoIQ. You'll work directly with clients to understand their goals and build on top of the GeoIQ platform using our server, javascript and mobile API's to provide them with cutting edge and compelling applications. You likely have experience building a number of interesting applications and mashups using different data sources and programming platforms to solve problems.

Your skills should include:

  • Experience with modern web development technologies such as Javascript, Ruby, Python. It's even better if you utilize tools like Coffeescript, Sinatra, Node, and whatever is the best fit for the task. Some experience with CMS's such as Drupal and Sharepoint - particularly supporting extension modules.
  • Ability to handle multiple parallel projects, deadlines, and shifting requirements. You'll be working between our Sales, Project Management and Platform engineering team to ensure customers are excited and achieve their goals within their budget.
  • Solid communication skills, documentation, and general collaboration across multiple teams.
  • Project management skills, code management such as Git and issue tracking (we use Redmine)
  • Self starter and more importantly a solid finisher

Streaming and Large Data Engineer

GeoIQ combines unbounded data streaming from social media, databases, API's, sensors, and user contributions. As a data engineer you will be a member of our growing analysis platform team building on scalable processing engines to perform high-speed, streaming and continuous analysis of data that users will visualize and interact with to make better decisions. You have experience experimenting with data to tease out interesting traits and conveying this to users through interactive visualization.

Your skills should include:

  • Experience using data analysis tools and platforms such as Hadoop, Cascading, R. Extra bonus if you have familiarity with geospatial analysis such as Geos, JTS and algorithms such as Pearson's correlation, Raster analysis and Moran's I.
  • Expertise in application development skills using frameworks like Ruby on Rails.
  • Focus on building stable components of a large platform that are reliable, tested, and extensible by other members of the team.
  • Self starter and more importantly a solid finisher

Product Design Engineer

We want you to drive the design and interaction of our products. Our users love working with us and your role will focus on user-focused design of complex data tools to make them easy to understand. We provide gorgeous mapping and visualization tools that are used across the world - from farmers in Afghanistan, to the World Bank and United Nations, and commercial real-estate and enterprise companies. The design considerations are never dull and you'll be helping define the next generation of data-driven user experience.

Your skills should include:

  • User-focused and task oriented design including requirements gathering, mockup, functional prototypes, workflows, and usability testing
  • Standards-based web design and implementation as appropriate, such as CSS3, Microformats, and some JavaScript development
  • Work with the team to complete tasks, fast and reliably
  • Agility to track multiple tasks and requirements based on feedback and business needs
  • Self starter and more importantly a solid finisher
