GeoCommons 2.0 Launched Today
Today GeoIQ excitedly announces the launch of GeoCommons 2.0! Having listened to the feedback of our over 27,000 active users, we have made great enhancements to GeoIQ, the platform powering GeoCommons, for better, faster performance, bigger data visualization, greater usability and cross browser support. Now users can animate and visualize massive amounts of data in seconds - everywhere from IE to your iPad.
A subset of features in this new GeoIQ release is now available to the public through GeoCommons 2.0.
GeoCommons 2.0
More Robust Visualization Engine
You can now visualize tens of thousands of points in seconds or push the limits with hundreds of thousands of points. You are no longer bound by just static map tiles when working with big data sets, plus you can animate and filter all of it on the fly.
Cross-browser platform Support
View your maps anywhere from IE to your iPad. We’ve added support for HTML5 and Flash.
Custom Icon Creator
Personalize your maps with any icons of your choosing. Just copy and paste an image URL to create instant custom icons. These icons can also be used for creating thematic maps where they are sized by their value.
Multi-attribute Filtering
Add several attributes to your map and easily query using both numeric and text data attributes.
Easier Data Editing
You can now edit, filter and query your data within the GeoCommons workflow. No more editing in Excel and uploading multiple versions of your data.
Revamped Temporal Analysis
See huge data sets smoothly animate over time with our improved time slider that aggregates and bins your time-based data automatically.

For GeoIQ Enterprise Customers
For our GeoIQ customers, this release optimizes the platform for analyzing and visualizing real-time, dynamic data. GeoIQ is the only platform that allows users to work with data at the scale demanded by real-time location based applications across mobile devices, sensors and the Web.
In addition to the aforementioned new performance and user enhancements, you'll have continued access to:
GeoIQ Analytics
Easy-to-use, advanced spatial analytics that enterprises and agencies can utilize to answer mission-critical questions right away. No desktop software or technical training required! Select among numerous analyses such as filtering, buffers, spatial aggregation and predictive analysis. Analysis now runs in the background so you can continue through your workflow and we’ll notify you when the analysis is complete - no browser lock up or long waiting times!
GeoIQ Connect
Connect to both traditional relational databases like Oracle and mySQL, and multiple NoSQL object stores like HBase and MongoDB for geospatial visualization and analysis.
Group and Permissions
Allow others in your department or working group to access and collaborate with you. Enable permissions at various levels to limit or expand data sharing as needed.
GeoIQ APIs
Use GeoIQ’s full set of open, standards-based programming interfaces. You can use our API to upload, search and download data, run advanced analyses, create maps and charts, and embed them into rich, interactive web and mobile applications.
